Types of documentary:

Actuality – this is like a reality as if you are actually there at the time. This can be tough so it may be easier to use archived footage.

 

Fly on the Wall

 

Voice over

 

Talking Head – a shot of someone talking directly to the camera as a presenter.

 

Music – this is critical for the opening scene.

 

Interviews – this is interviewing people that are relevant to the documentary which gives the audience a professional perspective from knowledgeable people.

 

Graphics – this is a good way to make the documentary more interesting and appealing to the audience.
